The 4 current trends in interior design
70s retro
Finally: spring is here! Do you feel like opening the windows, tidying up and refreshing your interior? We get you. That's why Furnified, as an interior curator, has selected the 4 interior trends of 2022 for you. This way, your home is completely up to date!
Warm colours, unusual geometric patterns, natural materials and lots of plants: welcome to the 70s! In recent years, the trendy 70s style has crept into modern interiors and we love it. This style is characterised by nostalgic colours such as ochre, green, brown and yellow and by furniture with round, organic shapes. Wood is also an essential element in a retro living room. Choose dark or warm brown furniture with round corners and legs for a true seventies feel. For example, the retro wardrobe is very popular at the moment. A sideboard - such as Oskar in walnut or Felix in teak - or an open cabinet - such as the vintage wall cabinet or the Amsterdam bookcase - are ideal for creating a vintage atmosphere.
Round and organic
In 2022, we say goodbye (for now) to angular furniture. Instead, we will welcome round shapes, organic lines and sinuous curves. Hello, softness! The Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi is the basis of this trend. Round furniture and accessories such as vases have a sympathetic appearance and bring a sense of calm, simplicity and security. Reinforce this effect with fluffy fabrics, smooth materials and velvet elements. Furnified will be launching a new series of organic tables and an organic sofa in bouclé fabric in the near future: stay tuned!
Glass as a statement
Beautiful, easy to combine and suitable for any interior: glass is a favourite material in the home. Whether you choose glass accessories - such as vases - or furniture with glass elements: glass creates a calm, soft and lively atmosphere. Don't like a prominent dining table? Opt for a subtle and chic glass table. Do you want to keep a sense of space in your home? A glass cabinet is not only beautiful, it also allows the space in which it is placed to continue to look spacious because you can see through the cabinet. But glass can also make a statement, especially if it's textured glass. How's that? Keep an eye on our Furnified site, because our Oskar oak sideboard will soon be available with textured glass doors. Exciting!
Natural materials
Lately we've grown to appreciate nature more and more. And we want this to be reflected in our interiors. Following on from the organic and soft forms, the use of natural materials is very trendy. Bamboo, cork, cardboard and felt give space and tranquillity. Of course, wood also has its place, like the Lisa or Harris wooden dining table. And stone? Our Richard coffee table is Furnified's bestseller and is available in various marble colours. Finally, reed is also a good choice; with, for example, the Swing reed chair, you create a light and organic atmosphere. For the finishing touch to your interior, add some pampas grass and lots of plants!
